Softball Notches Two More W's in PR
BAYAMóN, PR – The Randolph College softball team made it a perfect five for five in Puerto Rico on Monday, winning its two games. The 'Cats wrapped up its third game with Centenary (NJ) College, winning 5-4, before taking down DeSales University 3-0 shortly after.
Game one provided the first close game of the trip for Randolph, but the 'Cats proved up to the task. Maggie Goldberg started her first career game. She went four innings and pitched very well. Gracyn Allen-Ingle pitched the final three innings of the game and held the Cyclones down for the win.
In game two, the WIldCats only sent one pitcher to the circle: Lindsey Chaney. Chaney was firing on all cylinders right from the start. In her seven innings of work, she allowed only one hit and did not walk a single batter, on her way to the first shutout of her career.
The team also had the necessary offense in the game. Jessica Nowak crushed a solo shot over the left field fence to highlight the offensive output.
Randolph (9-2 overall) will play for two more days down in the Caribbean. On Tuesday, the WildCats will play DeSales at 10 a.m. EST before taking on the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at 12 p.m. EST.
