Softball at Sweet Briar for ODAC Doubleheader

SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Randolph dropped both ends of an ODAC doubleheader at Sweet Briar on Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-2 in game one before an 8-0 loss in game two.

Game One:

Randolph battled throughout the opener but was unable to overcome an early deficit. Sweet Briar struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added single runs in the third and sixth.

The WildCats broke through in the third inning when Addy Compton delivered an RBI double to right field, scoring Haili Gonzalez to cut the lead to 2-1. Randolph threatened again in the sixth as Rylee Humble drove in Gonzalez with an RBI single to make it a one-run game at 3-2.

However, Sweet Briar responded in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double to extend the lead back to two. Randolph was held off the board in the seventh.

Gonzalez accounted for two of Randolph's runs, reaching base twice and scoring both times, while Compton and Humble each recorded an RBI. Austyn Moran went the distance in the circle with four strikeouts.

Game Two:

In the second game, Sweet Briar's offense got going early and never slowed down, plating three runs in the first inning and two more in the second to take control.

Sweet Briar added three more runs in the sixth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

Randolph recorded six hits in the contest but was unable to push a run across. Humble led the WildCats at the plate, going 2-for-3, while Gonzalez, Michaela Williams, Sammie Carroll, and Chesney Shook each added a hit.
