Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's lacrosse team outscored visiting Huntingdon College, 8-7, in the second half of game play but it would not be enough as the Hawks secured a 15-9 win over the WildCats on Wednesday evening.
Randolph put up the first point on the scoreboard as Brett Pausic (Saluda, Va./Christchurch) found the back of the net off a feed from Kadri Hearns (Cumming, Ga./South Forsyth) with 10:59 to go in the first quarter. However, the WildCats would soon find their brief lead taken away as the Hawks dished out three consecutive goals for a 3-1 advantage.
Huntingdon shut out the WildCats, 5-0, in the second quarter for an 8-1 margin at halftime, but Randolph would edge out the Hawks, 3-2 in the third quarter as Pausic found the stick of Josh Yeast (Chesapeake, Va./Norfolk Academy) to cut the score to 8-2. Shortly after the Hawks scored their 10th goal of the game, Prince Charles (Virginia Beach, Va./Cap Henry Collegiate) grabbed the ball to win the face-off and find the back of the net on a fast-break play before finding the stick of Gage Tutko for a last second goal to make it a 10-4 score.
The WildCats continued their comeback in the final quarter as Pausic, Shane Shifflett (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Tutko dished out one goal apiece, bring the score to 10-7 with 7:38 remaining on the clock. However, it would be the closest Randolph would get as the Hawks responded with three straight goals within a matter of 21 seconds to extend their lead to 13-7.
Jack Dolan (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) would add a man-up goal before Tutko completed a hat-trick with Randolph's final goal at the 2:08 mark for a 14-9 margin, but the Hawks would score one last time for the final 15-9 tally.
