Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Both games of today's doubleheader came down to the final batter, with each team winning one game.
In a battle of two teams tied for the last playoff spot in the ODAC standings, junior Jessica Nowak singled in senior Haleigh Wilson to give Randolph a comeback, walk-off win in game one, 7-6.
The tying run was stranded on second in game two, with Shenandoah winning that contest, 5-4.
Shenandoah scored the first three runs of the first game over the first two innings to get out to an early lead.
Senior Patti Vinson singled in Nowak and first-year Dianne Davis to cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the second.
Shenandoah got three back in the top of the fourth for a comfortable 6-2 edge, but Randolph chipped away.
First-year Lauren Morris took to the circle and pitched 3.2 stellar, shutout innings, to keep the WildCats within striking distance.
Randolph loaded the bases in the fifth for first-year Brittany Campbell, who walked to force first-year Haley Brickles in.
A wild pitch brought in junior Erin Wehrhan next, then Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to bring Randolph within one.
In the seventh, Campbell walked to lead off the inning. Wilson looked to bunt her over, but got more than she bargained for when she reached bases and Campbell came around on an error.
Davis sacrificed herself to get Wilson over to second, setting the stage for Nowak's line drive to left-center, bringing in the winning run.
In game two, Shenandoah scored one in the top of the first once again, but Randolph got two back in the second on a home run by sophomore Ashley Dudding.
Shenandoah scored three in the fifth and one more in the sixth to get ahead, 5-2.
Once again, Randolph threatened in the seventh, scoring two on a double by Campbell.
The WildCats couldn't push the tying run across, however, earning a split.
On Tuesday, the WildCats host Emory & Henry.
