Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 SALEM, Va. -- Randolph fell in both halves of today's double-header, despite the continued hot hitting from its first baseman.
Sophomore Hunter Glavé hit her seventh home run in the last 11 days in game two to move into the top spot in the ODAC this year in that category.
The WildCats fell, 8-0, in game one and 12-4 in game two.
Randolph's bats struggled to wake up early, with just Glavé and first-year Brittany Campbell reaching base in the five-inning contest, both via walk.
Game two saw the offense come alive, however.
First-year Haley Brickles led the game off with a single and was moved over on a bunt by junior Erin Wehrhan.
Glavé took advantage of the runner in scoring position by singling in the shortstop from second to give Randolph the lead.
Roanoke pushed across multiple runs in three of the next four innings, however, to take a 7-1 lead.
That lead was halved in one swing, as Glavé hit a three-run shot, bringing in Brickles and sophomore Ashley Dudding.
Roanoke responded, however, closing the game out in the sixth.
Glavé has now reached base in 13 straight games for Randolph, dating back to March 18.
She now leads the conference in home runs, doubles and walks.
Randolph returns to action Friday at home, squaring off with Shenandoah. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
