Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph's six-game winning streak was snapped at the hands of Lynchburg this afternoon in the ODAC opener.
The Hornets won both halves of the doubleheader with scorelines of 3-1 and 9-4.
In both contests, Randolph made a lot of noise in the top of the seventh inning, but couldn't overcome Lynchburg leads.
In game one, junior Hannah Winfree pitched well over six innings, allowing just four hits.
Her 19.0 inning scoreless streak was snapped in the first on a fielder's choice and, after conceding two in the third, didn't allow another run over the contest.
Randolph's only runner in the first six innings came on a double by first-year Haley Brickles, as Conner English toed the rubber for Lynchburg.
English ran into a ton of trouble in the seventh, however.
With one out, sophomore Hunter Glavé drilled a ball to dead center that looked like it cleared the fence, but was brought back with a great catch for the second out.
First-year Lauren Morris made sure she wasn't robbed, with a blast to left center, ending the shutout and giving the pitcher her first career home run.

After a walk by senior Patti Vinson, Randolph had the tying run at the plate, but after a battle at the plate, English sealed the win with a pop out.
In game two, Randolph's offense got started early.
After Morris walked, first-year Rebecca Montgomery singled to center, putting pressure on.
First-year Brittany Campbell doubled and senior Haleigh Wilson singled to bring those two around and give Randolph the lead.
Lynchburg responded with three in the bottom of the inning, however, to take the lead, and added four and two in the next two innings.
Once again, Randolph didn't go easily, however.
Brickles hit her first career homer, bringing home Campbell, to make the lead tenous before ultimately coming up short.
First-years Gracyn Allen-Ingle and Morris split the duties in the circle, with Allen-Ingle getting the start.
Randolph is back in action on Saturday as it hosts Guilford starting at 1 p.m.
