Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph's 2013-14 team broke a 14-year-old record for wins in program history, but that mark lasted just 341 days, as this year's squad toppled it this afternoon.
In today's 57-47 victory, Randoph moved to 12-7 on the season, marking the first time in program history with at least a dozen wins.
Randolph was aided by double-doubles by two senior post players, Jensen Hoover and Allie Druffel, who used their performances today to move into fifth and 10th, respectively, in program history in career rebounding.
Facing Hollins for the second time this season, Randolph never trailed, scoring early off of a Hoover layup to get on top.
After Hollins equalized, Druffel scored four straight and senior Chelsea Tyler converted a three-point play, putting the WildCats ahead for good.
The WildCats maintained that edge throughout the first half, growing a lead as large as 10 in the frame and heading into intermission up 26-20.
Hollins chipped away multiple times early in the second half, finally getting the lead down to just one before Randolph responded.
Free throws from sophomore Jacqueline Hockman and first-year Taylor Samuels were followed by a Hoover layup, giving Randolph a seven point lead with 8:51 to go.
After holding off more charges from Hollins, the WildCats nailed five free throws in the final 58 seconds to ice the game.
Hoover was stellar, posting 20 points and 14 rebounds in the contest for her third double-double of the year.
With the effort, she moves into first place in the conference in field goal percentage at 56.7%.
Druffel had 10 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the year.
Hockman added 11 points for the WildCat cause.
Randolph held Hollins to just 15-of-61 shooting on the day (24.6%) and 1-of-7 from three (14.3%) on the day.
Randolph is back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m., hosting Guilford. That game is the team's Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the contest, which will have ways to donate and information on the cancer. For more on the team's cancer awareness game, click here.
