Women's Basketball Announces Addition of Sam Blaylock as Graduate Assistant Coach

Randolph College Head Women's Basketball Coach Polly Thomason has announced the addition of Sam Blaylock as Graduate Assistant Coach for the WildCats women's basketball program.

Blaylock joins the Randolph staff following an outstanding playing career at St. Mary's College of Maryland. A four-year standout guard for the Seahawks, she established herself as one of the top players in program history, finishing her career as the school's all-time leader in three-point field goals made while surpassing the 1,000-point milestone.

During her collegiate career, Blaylock earned First Team All-United East honors, was named United East Rookie of the Year, received multiple conference Player of the Week awards, and was recognized for her academic success as a CSC Academic All-District selection and United East All-Academic Team member. She also helped lead St. Mary's to NCAA Tournament appearances, gaining valuable postseason experience that she now brings to the Randolph program.

"We're excited to welcome Sam to the Randolph Women's Basketball family," said Head Coach Polly Thomason. "Sam brings a wealth of experience from her outstanding playing career, including competing in the NCAA Tournament and helping lead successful teams at St. Mary's. As one of the most accomplished guards in program history, she understands what it takes to excel at a high level. Her knowledge, work ethic, and passion for the game will be tremendous assets to our program, and I know she will have an immediate impact on the development of our guards and the growth of our student-athletes both on and off the court."

A native of Ijamsville, Maryland, Blaylock graduated from Oakdale High School, where she earned First Team All-Conference honors and set the school's single-season three-point record. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from St. Mary's College of Maryland.

As Graduate Assistant Coach, Blaylock will assist with player development, recruiting, scouting, practice preparation, game operations, and other day-to-day aspects of the Randolph women's basketball program while pursuing her Master of Arts in Coaching and Sport Leadership (MACSL) at Randolph College.

The WildCats are excited to welcome Sam to Lynchburg and look forward to the impact she will make on the continued growth and success of the program.
