Thomason was hired in September 2025 to lead the Randolph College Women's Basketball program. Thomason brings more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience and impressive track record of success at the Division III level.
Thomason joins Randolph after three seasons at the University of Hartford, where she guided the Hawks through their transition from Division I to Division III. After just two wins in her first year, which was the program’s final season at the Division I level, she led Hartford to back-to-back double-digit win seasons and a conference tournament berth in their first year of eligibility as a member of the Conference of New England in 2024-25.
Prior to Hartford, Thomason spent 17 seasons at the University of Texas Dallas as the head coach. During her tenure, she posted 327-126 (.722) overall record, including a 230-82 (.737) mark in conference play. Thomason led the Comets to four American Southwest Conference (ASC) titles and siz NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 berth in 2014-15 season.
Her career coaching record stands at 350-181, with her teams winning more than 65% of their games.
Thomason has earned numerous individuals accolades throughout her career. She was a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Coach of the Year Finalist in 2021, WBCA South Region Coach of the Year in 2017, D3Hoops.com South Region Coach of the Year in 2015, and a six-time ASC East Coach of the Year honoree. She mentored nine WBCA All-Americans, five D3News All-Americans, and two Josten's Trophy Finalists. In addition, she has guided 125 student-athletes to ASC Academic Team recognition and coached four CoSIDA (CSC) Academic All-District selections.
Her coaching career began in 1999 at Austin College and later served as a coaching intern at the College of Wooster and Chatham University. A stand-out student-athlete, Thomason graduated from Austin College in 1999 with a degree in Physical Education before earning her master's degree in Sport Administration from the University Tennessee Knoxville in 2022. At Austin, she was a member of two ASC Championship teams (1996-97, 1997-98) and helped lead the program to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Active in professional organizations, Thomason has been involved with both the NCAA and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Thomason's coaching philosophy emphasizes not only success on the court but also personal growth and leadership development off it.
