Women's Basketball Drops ODAC Contest to Hot-Shooting W&L

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The nation's third-best three point shooting team was on the wrong side of deep shooting tonight in a 64-49 defeat at the hands of Washington and Lee.

Randolph came into today's game with an ODAC best 39.6% mark from three, but couldn't find a shooting stroke today, as it was the visiting Generals used six threes from Emily Perszyk to take command in the second half.

Randolph opened well, taking a lead as large as seven early and leading for the majority of the first half.

A strong burst came from a pair of layups from the ODAC's second-leading shooter, Jensen Hoover, surrounding a pair of free throws from sophomore Jacqueline Hockman for a 6-0 spurt.

After a W&L run, the teams fought to a near-stalemate at halftime, with Randolph leading 27-26 after a last-second General layup.

An exchange of buckets to start the secon half saw the lead change six times in the first 2:59.

With 12:19 left, Perszyk caught fire for W&L, scoring 21 points in 7:03 to suddenly turn a nailbiter into a comfortable lead for Washington and Lee.

Randolph attempted to make cuts into the lead late, but the cushion was too much to overcome.

Randolph was led by Hockman and senior Allie Druffel, who each had a dozen points. Hoover had 10.

Druffel's eight rebounds led the team.

Junior Abigail Bullins had six assists, which was a game high.

The WildCats next travel to Shenandoah for the second half of a home-and-home between those two teams.

Two weeks ago, a blocked shot by Druffel at the buzzer gave Randolph a thrilling 55-52 victory at the RAD Center.
