Hot Shooting Powers Shenandoah to Women's Hoops Win

Box Score

WINCHESTER, Va. -- Nationally ranked in field goal percentage allowed, Randolph had an uncharacteristic day on the defensive end, falling at Shenandoah, 73-50.

Coming into the game 46th in the country in the category, Randolph (10-12, 4-9 ODAC) allowed Shenandoah (9-13, 6-8 ODAC) to hit 51.1% of its shots today, powering the team to victory.

Randolph jumped out to an early 7-4 edge, but eight straight Hornet points pushed Shenandoah ahead for good.

The WildCats chipped away multiple times, but any run was met with a Shenandoah response.

A 9-2 spurt to end the half left the WildCats down just five, as senior Emilee Dunton (Forest, Va./Brookville) had 11 at the break.

Randolph would not get closer, however, as a 20-5 run by the Hornets to open the second half sealed the game's fate.

Sophomore Bria Carlisle (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) scored a dozen points off the bench in the effort, a career best.

Crystal Petrus led all scorers with 20 for the Hornets.

The teams had identical numbers in turnovers, points off turnovers and points in the paint, while only differing by one second-chance point.

Randolph will return to action on Tuesday at home against Lynchburg. Fans are encouraged to wear pink, as it is the team's Play 4Kay game, supporting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
