WildCats Defeat Meredith in Women's Basketball to Move to 7-2

Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Randolph is off to its best start in program history, sitting at 7-2 at the end of the fall semester.

The WildCats (7-2) defeated Meredith (2-4) tonight in non-conference action, 71-56.

Early, the teams were deadlocked at 17 before a 5-0 spurt put Randolph up for good. The team finished the half on a 13-4 run to open up an edge.

Any attempt by the Avenging Angels to come back was thwarted by the WildCats, keeping their edge throughout the second half.

At one point, the teams scored on nine straight possessions, as Randolph answered every Meredith basket with one of its own.

Meredith went on an 11-0 run in just over a minute with time ticking down, but it was too little, too late, as it didn't even cut down on half of Randolph's 23-point lead with 3:12 to go.

Sophomore Abigail Bullins (Asheboro, N.C./Asheboro) led Randolph with 18 points, one shy of McKenzi Edwards for game-high honors.

Senior Emilee Dunton (Forest, Va./Brookville) had 13 points, as the only other player in double-figures.

First-year Korin Harris (Brandywine, Md./Elizabeth Seton) hit seven free throws to earn nine points to go with her game-high 13 rebounds.

Only three times in program history have the WildCats won more than the seven games this team has already earned. Randolph has more than half of its season to try and best the program's best mark for wins, 10.

That quest will begin starting a week from today, as the WildCats travel to Florida to battle Alverno and Emory.
