WildCat Women's Basketball Dropped by Hollins University Saturday 71-67

                LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's basketball team put four players in double figures Saturday afternoon but couldn't overcome 31 percent shooting in falling to Hollins University 71-67 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from the Randolph Athletics and Dance (RAD) Center.

                The first half was nip and tuck, as the game was tied on seven occasions with the lead changing hands nine times. The WildCats largest lead of the first half came on the first bucket of the game, an Emilee Dunton (Forest, VA/Brookville) three-pointer, but neither team led by more than three during the period as Hollins took a 35-32 lead into intermission.

                HU (6-12/2-8 ODAC) upped its advantage to eight with 16:37 left in the period on a pair of free throws by Jasmine Greene, and would eventually lead by as much as 11 with just under nine to play on a lay-up by Alexa Smith. The WildCats went on a 12-2 spurt over the next 4:02 to pull to within one after a pair of shots from the charity stripe from Jensen Hoover (Woodstock, VA/Central).

                Visiting Hollins upped its lead back up to seven with 1:38 to play and was able to ice the game from the line, as Randolph could get no closer than four just before the final buzzer. Sophomore Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, VA/Henrico) scored team-best 14 points to go with six rebounds and four steals, while Allie Druffel (Centreville, VA/Westfield) netted a career-high 12 points on six-of-nine shooting off the bench.

                Sophomore Brianna Lowry (Herndon, VA/Herndon) posted 10 points and four rebounds, and Dunton finished with 10 points and seven assists. Her seven assists ties for the second-most in a game in school history. Hoover added nine points and seven rebounds for the WildCats, who shot a season-high 39 free throws, making 27. Randolph also edged Hollins on the boards 45-40.

                HU was led by Greene and her 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals, making 11-of-14 from the line. Lacie Forrest added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists with teammate Carrie Cox going four-from-six from downtown for 12 points. Chanci Wright posted nine points and a team leading eight rebounds for Hollins, which was 24-of-58 (41.4 percent) from the field.

                The WildCats will return to action Wednesday evening at Lynchburg College at 7 p.m. for ODAC play in Turner Gymnasium.
