Box Score GREENSBORO, NC — Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leading Guilford College controlled the boards and forced the Randolph College women's basketball team into a tough shooting night as the Quakers earned a 64-45 victory Tuesday evening from Ragan-Brown Field House.
Randolph set a school record low for turnovers in a game, recording only five over the 40 minutes of play. The number of five was the smallest amount in the league this season, and the lowest in the ODAC contest since EMU turned it over just three times last year against Randolph.
The WildCats (3-16/0-14 ODAC) scored the first six points of the game, as first-year Chelsea Tyler (Richmond, VA/Henrico) nailed her first two three-pointers. Randolph would hold a two-point lead at 11-9 after another trifecta, this time coming from first-year Bonnie Bishop (Fairfax, VA/Trinity Christian).
Guilford (15-3/12-1 ODAC) went on an 11-0 run over the next few minutes, to lead by nine after a three-pointer from Kayla Adams. GC went up by 12 twice in the first half, taking a 29-17 lead into the intermission. After the break, GC scored 16 of the first 22 points of the second half to push the advantage to 23.
Randolph would not go away though, showing some heart in going on an 8-0 run with just under 10 minutes to play to pull to within 15 after a jumper from Jo Annunziata (Auburn, MA/Miller School). GC would quickly push the lead back up to 20, coasting to the league win.
Tyler finished the night with a game-high 15 points, hitting five of her 14 field goals from the floor. First-year Bri Lowry (Herndon, VA/Herndon) had 10 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Courtney Bouchard (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) poured in six points on the night. Senior Lauren French (Blairs, VA/Chatham) added six points for Randolph, as it shot 15-of-57 (26.3 percent) from the floor.
Guilford was paced by the 12 points from Morgan King, while Gabby Oglesby had seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Brittany Drew posted nine points, and Jazlyn Gibbs and Jaclyn Nucci each scored eight points for the Quakers, who out-rebounded Randolph 52-23.
The WildCats will be back in action Friday evening, as they travel the short distance across town to take on Lynchburg College in an ODAC tussle in Turner Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
