Men's Swimming Defeats Virginia Wesleyan in Final Regular Season Meet

ROANOKE, Va.- In their final regular season meet of the season, the Randolph men's swimming team defeated Virginia Wesleyan by the score of 97-64. The team had several first place results and a few personal bests set.

Mike Christou (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) had a pair first place results for the WildCats. He was first in the 50 free in a time of 22.71 and added a winning time of 58.94 in the 100 fly. Randolph was 1-2-3 in the 50 free as it was Christou, Chris Verastek (Menchville, Va./Newport News), and Oscar Onoszko (Clover, S.C./Clover). Pax Allen (Lynchburg, Va./Anglo American School of Sofia) was second to Christou in the 100 fly in a personal best time of 1:03.31.

Josh Bulavko (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) took the 200 free in 2:06.49 and the 500 free in 5:36.91. Bauer Edwards (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) had a personal best time of 2:11.84 in the 200 free. He added a personal best 58 seconds in the 100 free to place second. Adriano De Angelis (Miami, Fla./Hargrave Military Academy) (58.60) was third and Allen was fourth (1:01.32).

Verastek claimed the 100 breast in 1:05.14. Onoszko was behind him with a time of 1:07.72.

Both relay teams came out on top. The 200 medley of Verstek, Onoszko, Christou and Conner Dobbins (Palmyra, Va./Fulvanna County) were the only competitors and swam a time of 1:38.75. The 800 free relay of Edwards, DeAngelis, Allen, and Bulavko had a time of 8:51.07.

Next for the WildCats is the ODAC Championships starting February 14.
