Men's Swimming Defeats Hampden-Sydney at RAD Pool

LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph men's swimming team hosted its lone meet of the season as it welcomed Hampden-Sydney to the RAD Pool. The WildCats were able to pull out a 101-96 victory.

Andrew Scales (Tega Cay, S.C./Fort Mill) picked up two victories in the pool for Randolph. He was first in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.03 and the 500 free in a time of 5:20.80. Both of those finishes were personal bests. He was also a part of the 400 medley relay along with Chris Verastek (Menchville, Va./Newport News), Mike Christou (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield), and Daniel Bennett-Blake (College Park, Ga.) that won in a time of 3:46.72.

Bennett-Blake placed first in the 50 free in 22.25. Verastek touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:02.45) as did Jeffrey Oliveri (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) in the 100 free (51.51), Christou in the 100 back (56.38) and Oscar Onoszko (Clover, S.C./Clover) in the 100 breast (1:05.41). Oliveri, Verastek, Bennett-Blake, and Christou were all part of the 400 free relay that won with a time of 3:21.91.

The WildCats are back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. as they travel to Washington and Lee. Randolph will compete against the Generals and the Virginia Military Institute.
