Randolph-Macon Swimming Bests Randolph

ASHLAND, Va.- The Randolph men's swimming team returned to the pool for its first dual meet of 2019 on Saturday afternoon against Randolph-Macon. The Yellowjackets won by the score of 113-63.

Jeffrey Oliveri (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was a winner in the 50 free with a time of 23.22. That was just ahead of teammate Mike Christou (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) who was .01 second behind in 23.23. Chris Verastek (Menchville, Va./Newport News) was the other individual winner on the day as he took the 200 breast in 2:18.41.

The women lost by the score of 103.53. The WildCats picked up seven points in the 200 free as Breauna Rhoades (Apple Valley, Calif./Sun Devil) was second with a time of 2:29.45 and Golden Dennison (Creston, N.C.) was behind her in 3:01.90. Rhoades added a second place result in the 500 free as she touched the wall in 7:56.66.

In the 50 free, Randolph tallied 10 points with Brice Creel (Lake Placid, Fla./Lake Placid), Jessica Williams (Sacramento, Calif./John F Kennedy), and Leah Dorman (Lynchburg, Va.) coming in second, third, and fourth. Williams was also second in the 200 back (2:58.29) and Dorman (3:27.81) in the 200 breast.

Other results included Grace Driver (Andrews, Texas/Andrews) swimming a time of 13:18.49 in the 1000 free. Libby Exline (Sykesville, Md./La Plata) had a final time of 3:09.73 in the 200 IM and Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) had a 1:06.59 time in the 100 free.

The WildCats travel to Hampden-Sydney tomorrow afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. meet time. The men will face the Tigers while the women will go against Guilford.
