VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph men's swimming team competed in its first dual meet of the season as they went up against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. The WildCats claimed all but one event as they went on to win 125-54.
Josh Bulavko (Edgewood, Md./Edgewood) picked up two wins on the day. He was first in the 1000 free with a time of 11:54.05 and first in the 500 free in 5:48.44. His 1000 free time set a new Randolph record.
Bauer Edwards (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) took the 100 free in 1:00.75. He was second in the 50 free with a time of 25.89.
Adriano De Angelis (Miami, Fla./Hargrave Military Academy) swam a time of 2:18.54 in the 200 free. Chris Verastek (Menchville, Va./Newport News) touched the wall in 2:04.25 in the 200 IM which set a new WildCat record.
Oscar Onoszko (Clover, S.C./Clover) competed in the 100 fly and finished in 57.38. Mike Christou (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) swam a time of 58.32 in the 100 back. Daniel Bennett-Blake (College Park, Ga.) came in first in the 100 breast in a time of 1:13.14.
In the relays, the 200 medley relay team of Christou, Onoszko, Bennett-Blake, and Pax Allen (Lynchburg, Va./Anglo American School of Sofia) cruised to the best finish in a time of 1:44.40 The 200 free relay squad of Bennett-Blake, Andrew Scales (Tega Cay, S.C./Fort Mill), Edwards, and Christou were first with a time of 1:36.55.
The team will face off against Hampden-Sydney next Saturday. Start time of the meet will be at 2:00 p.m.
