Men's Swimming Hosts Hampden-Sydney On Historic Night

LYNCHBURG, Va.- It was a historic night at the RAD Center on Friday as the Randolph men's swimming team hosted its first-ever meet as they welcomed Hampden-Sydney. The Tigers won 120-69.

The crowd was loud and supportive during the evening. President Bradley Bateman was the honorary starter for the night's first event.

Jeffrey Oliveri (Ellicott City, Md.) and Oscar Onoszko (Clover, S.C.) both picked up two victories for the WildCats. Oliveri claimed the 200 free in a time of 2:00.58 that was .20 seconds ahead of Hampden-Sydney's Eric Hope. He was also a winner in the 100 free in a time of 51.80. Onoszko was a winner in the 200 breast (2:23.81) and the 500 free (5:18.14).

Daniel Bennett-Blake (College Park, Ga.) was the other winner for Randolph as he took the 50 free in 21.92 which was a new personal record for him. Kieran Saienni nearly won the 200 backstroke but was just .03 seconds behind Robert Brown as he clocked a personal-best time of 2:23.59.

The men will return to action on February 9 as they compete in the ODAC Championships.
