Men's Swimming Splits Tri-Meet at Hollins

ROANOKE, Va. – The Randolph College men's swimming team fell to Virginia Wesleyan University, 77-76, but defeated Emory & Henry College, 69-44, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference tri-meet held at Hollins University on Saturday afternoon.

The WildCats finished 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle as Jeffrey Oliveri racked up first-place points in a time of 23.25 seconds while Oscar Onoszko finished second in 23.79 seconds and Andrew Scales touched the pad for third-place in 24.07 seconds.

Oliveri came back to win second-place in the 500-yard freestyle with a school record time of 5:40.29, defeating the previous standard by over four seconds.

Onoszko and Adriano De Angelis finished 1-2 in the 100-yard freestyle with Onoszko touching the pad in 51.52 seconds with De Angelis following in 58.72.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Kieran Saienni placed second in a time of 1:08.74 while Bauer Edwards swam the fastest time for Randolph in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:28.05.

The WildCats rounded out the meet with a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet De Angelis, Scales, Onoszko and Olivier locked down a time of 3:37.96.

Randolph will take a break for the holidays but will return to action on Dec. 2 when it competes as the Washington and Lee Invitational.
