Men's Swimming Defeats Virginia Wesleyan, 125-39, in First Dual Meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Randolph College men's swimming team won its first dual meet of the season with a 125-39 margin over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponent and host Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

The WildCats started off the day with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, where the quartet of Adriano De Angelis, Oscar Onoszko, Andrew Scales and Daniel Bennett-Blake posted a time of 1:50.52, just three seconds shy of the program's previous record set last weekend.

Several Randolph swimmers locked down top finishes throughout the day, with Banks Bullard, Jeffrey Oliveri, Onoszko and Scales each posting two individual wins in different events. Bullard locked down a time of 13:09.08 to win the 1,000 freestyle before taking the 500 freestyle in 6:26.92. Oliveri finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.22, followed by a top finish in the 100 freestyle, touching the pad in 51.63.

Onoszko took top honors in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:07.11, and the 100 breaststroke, touching the pad in 1:04.97. Scales clocked in the top time in the 100 butterfly (1:02.21) before taking the 100 backstroke in 1:04.10.

Bennett-Blake also earned individual points with a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.95 before joining Bauer Edwards, Kieran Saienni and Oliveri to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:39.43 to close out the day.

The WildCats are back next weekend when they compete against Greensboro College on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
