Women's Tennis Sweeps Lynchburg to Improve Playoff Seeding

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- With three matches left, Randolph is in control of its own destiny to earn a home playoff game.

Randolph beat Lynchburg, 9-0, to move into the No. 4 spot in the ODAC standings, which is the final spot for hosting a first round playoff game.

Junior Dina Velazco and sophomore Jenna Sweet at No. 1, as well as junior Sarah Parker and sophomore Heather Parra at No. 2, each won in doubles play, 8-1.

At No. 3, seniors Danielle Lewis and Tiandre Forde won 8-6, heading into their Senior Day on Saturday.

Velazco and Parker won easily in the top two singles matches, while Sweet and Parra each won 6-0, 6-0.

Sweet now has 12 wins on the year, which matches the most since 1999 by and WildCat.

Lewis earned a 6-4, 6-4 win, while Forde won via default.

Randolph next is in action on Saturday at 1 p.m., against Virginia Wesleyan on Senior Day for Lewis and Forde.

Randolph is up to No. 4 in the ODAC standings and can work towards locking up a home playoff game with a win.
