Women's Tennis ODAC Quarterfinal Preview

The Randolph women's tennis team will make its second straight appearance in the ODAC Tournament as the WildCats travel to Washington and Lee. Randolph is the eighth seed and the Generals are the top seed. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
 
How They Got Here:  Randolph went 9-7 overall in the regular season and 3-6 in ODAC play. The WildCats and Roanoke tied for fifth place and by virtue of Randolph's 6-1 win over the Maroons on March 23, the 'Cats won the tiebreaker. W&L is 17-2 overall and 9-0 in conference play.

The Series: The two teams will be meeting for the 42nd time overall. The Generals lead 40-2.

Last Time: The two schools last played each other a year ago on Randolph's court. The Generals won the match 7-0.

In the ODAC Tournament: Randolph is making its 13th ODAC Tournament appearance since the current tournament format was adopted in 2007 and is 4-18 in tournament matches. The Generals have won 34 ODAC Championships in total. The two teams have met twice in the ODAC Tournament in 2018 and 2019. Both matches were held at Virginia Wesleyan and the Generals won both by scores of 5-0.

The WildCatsAmy Rigg leads the WildCats with a 13-6 overall record with most of her singles matches coming at the #5 position. Sophia Cahue is second in wins with 12. Rachel Combs and Mikayla Smith both have 10 victories each. 2025 ODAC First Teamer Fleur Gaalman joined the team in the spring and has gone 9-3 overall and 6-2 in ODAC play between first and second singles. Rigg has the most doubles wins with 12 and she has a 7-3 record at second doubles. Smith and Natalie Thompson are 7-3 playing together and are 5-2 at third doubles.

The Generals: Margarette Berdy is 14-4 overall with a 5-2 record at fifth singles. Grace Lorenz has won 13 singles matches and Sarah Ladd has won 12 matches. 2025 ODAC Player of the Year Lauren Long has gone 10-3 at first singles. Sarah Donnelly, Berdy, and Ladd have all won 10 matches in doubles play. Lorenz is 11-7.
