LYNCHBURG, Va. -- On Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness, Randolph fell, 7-2, to end a program-best four match winning streak.
Sophomore Dario Schiano-Moriello and senior Daniil Lyalko fell at No. 1 doubles, 8-3 and sophomores JT von Seggern and Trevor Johnson did the same at second doubles, 8-4.
Randolph got a point out of the pairs competition as first-year Bradley Strober and sophomore Doug Corbett were winners, 8-3, at No. 3.
In singles play, Strober fell in straight sets at No. 1, 6-1, 6-4.
The next two matches were both nailbiters, with each team earning a point.
von Seggern rallied to win at No. 2, falling 6-3, in the first set, but winning 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8).
Lyalko was less successful at No. 3, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
Johnson lost, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4 and Corbett fell, three-and-three, at No. 5.
Senior Dan Phung fell, 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 1-0 (10-8), falling just shy at No. 6.
The team wore pink shirts and accessories and had pink ball markers on the score keepers in honor of Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness, part of Randolph's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee initiative to raise funds and awareness.
