Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. -- In the highest-scoring softball doubleheader for the WildCats since 2011, Randolph earned a split with Greensboro Sunday afternoon.
After dropping the first game, 15-7, Randolph rallied with five runs in the seventh to win game two, 7-5.
No doubleheader for Randolph has featured more runs since a two-game sweep over Averett on Feb. 26, 2011, with game scores of 11-5 and 14-11.
In game one, Randolph conceded two in the first and four in the second to get behind.
A huge seven-run inning followed, with first-year Lauren Morris singling in two to open the scoring.
After first-year Jordyn Knapp reached on an error which brought home a run, senior Haleigh Wilson drove in two on a single and junior Ashley Dudding tripled in two more.
That 7-6 lead held until the sixth, but Greensboro's bats woke up and the Pride scored six in the fifth and three in the sixth to walk off as winners.
Game two looked like a pitchers' duel through five, as only a solo homer in the first by sophomore Hunter Glavé brought anyone home.
The WildCats doubled their lead in the sixth as first-year Brittany Campbell scored on an error.
Greensboro halved that lead with one in the bottom of the frame, but the WildCats opened the game up in the seventh.
An error and wild pitch brought home the first two runners of the frame, but first-year Haley Brickles doubled in two more to make the lead 6-1.
Brickles scored on another error, which proved to be a very important insurance run.
After Greensboro got four runs back, the tying run to the plate, but Morris came on in relief to shut the door, sealing the win for junior Hannah Winfree who pitched four scoreless.
Randolph is back in action Tuesday, hosting Sweet Briar.
