LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Battling the sunset and a 4-3 deficit, Randolph rallied to win the last two matches Friday to defeat Bridgewater for the first time since the ODAC switched tennis scoring formats in 2007.
The WildCats fell in four of the first seven matches, leaving Bridgewater within one point of victory.
After a court two win at No. 6 singles by senior Tiandre Forde, 6-1, 6-3, Randolph also pulled within one.
Sophomore Heather Parra took to court five in the team's home and conference opener and, as the last match to finish, had the weight of the result on her shoulders.
With darkness approaching, Parra dispatched of fellow No. 4, Whitney Cash, 6-1, in the first set to get an advantage.
After the two players split the first six games of set two, Parra, surrounded by teammates cheering her on, swept the final three in the to take that frame, 6-3, and the match, 5-4.

"It was a good match and it came really down to the end," Parra said. "I feel good about it. It was good to pull it out for my team.

Randolph picked up one of three points in doubles, as Parra and junior Sarah Parker won at second doubles, 8-2.
In addition to Forde and Parra, sophomore Jenna Sweet was victorious at No. 3, 6-2, 6-2, and junior Danielle Lewis won at No. 5 without dropping a game.
Sweet and junior Dina Velazco fall at top doubles and Lewis and Forde fell at No. 3.
Velazco and Parker fell in the top two singles.
Last season, the WildCats fell in both matches against Bridgewater as this year's team avenges last year's ODAC quarterfinal defeat.
Randolph is back in action Sunday at Ferrum.
