Box Score EMORY, Va. -- Trailing by eight late in the first half, Randolph used a 21-2 run spanning the two halves to earn a crucial ODAC win in the regular season's penultimate game.
With the win, the WildCats stay in control in the hunt for a home playoff game on Monday.
The WildCats are now in a three-way tie for the No. 7 spot in the standings, with the teams seeded No. 5-8 hosting the conference's first round on Monday.
Incredibly, Bridgewater, Washington & Lee and Randolph are all in control of their own destiny this weekend for one of those two spots, as W&L visits Randolph with the winner assured of a top eight seed.
Over the first 6:39 of the game, neither team could grow a lead larger than three tonight.
Later, an Emory & Henry run gave the Wasps a lead as large as 10 late in the period.
Just before halftime, Randolph eliminated an eight-point Emory and Henry lead just about as quickly as possible to head into intermission tied.
Junior Seth Wimbish converted on a four-point play after being fouled on a made three, slicing the lead in half.
Two possessions later, off of a steal by junior Evan Horn, E&H was called for an intentional foul in transition, giving junior Corey Brown two free throws and Randolph possession.
After both from the line were converted, junior Zach Desgain made a layup to suddenly level the score at 32-32, just 61 seconds after being down eight.
On the first possession of the second half, Brown hit from three to put Randolph up, continuing the momentum from the end of the first.
Randolph opened the frame on a 13-2 spurt, not allowing a field goal for the first 6:11 of the half.
Overall, the WildCats held E&H without a field goal for a span of 8:24 dating back to the first half, good for a 21-2 run.
E&H trimmed the lead twice in the next few minutes, but Wimbish had an answer both times.
The first time, Wimbish doubled a two point lead with a layup to give Randolph a two possession advantage.
After E&H sliced the lead again, this time to just one, Wimbish was true from three once again, later adding a layup to make the lead six with five minutes to go.
Randolph held off a few charges in the final minutes to ice the victory in the game originally scheduled for Wednesday night.
Wimbish led the way with 18 points, the most of all players.
Desgain had 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double for the WildCats.
Desgain is now one point shy of the fifth-most in a single season in program history. In addition, he moved into the top 10 in program history in single-season rebounds. He is nine assists shy of his own program record for assists in a season.
In addition, Desgain moved into fifth in program history in career rebounding.
Brown and junior Gordon Rogo each had 10 points and five rebounds to round out Randolph's double-digit scorers.
As a team, Randolph was 9-for-17 (52.9%) from three, led by a trio from Wimbish.
Randolph will face Washington and Lee on Saturday earlier than originally scheduled, with tip planned for 1 p.m.
The winner of that contest will assure itself of a home playoff game, with the loser forced to watch the results of other contests to find out its fate.
Bridgewater hosts Lynchburg at noon on Saturday, while Roanoke, one game behind the pack, travels to Eastern Mennonite at 2:30 p.m.
