Men's Basketball Falters After Three Game Winning Streak

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- After shooting lights-out for most of January, Randolph couldn't find an offensive stroke Wednesday night in a 74-54 loss to Guilford.

Coming into tonight's game, the WildCats had shot at least 50% from three in three of the last five games, but that momentum didn't carry over into tonight's tilt with the Quakers.

Guilford never trailed, taking a 10-2 lead early.

After chipping away, first-year Reid Jacoby hit from deep and his classmate, Chris Hann, put home a layup tying the score up.

Randolph conceded seven straight, however, to get back ahead.

After a jumper from junior Evan Horn, four straight points from junior Zach Desgain once again had Randolph within just one, but Guilford closed the half strongly, taking a lead of 10 into intermission.

The WildCats trimmed the lead to eight early in the second half, but couldn't get any closer, as Guilford hit six threes in the half to fend off a comeback.

Both teams attempted plenty of threes, with Guilford hitting on 12-of-30 and Randolph converting on 7-of-31.

The WildCats were led by Desgain, who scored 18 points and added six rebounds.

Junior Gordon Rogo had 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double in his second year with the WildCats.

The 10 rebounds marked a career high for him, as well.

Both players were efficient, with Desgain shooting 5-for-9 and Rogo converting four of his six attempts.

Rogo has now shot 60% or better in 11 of Randolph's 16 games this year and leads the ODAC in shooting from the floor.

Randolph looks to regain the momentum on Saturday at Eastern Mennonite at 3 p.m.
