Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Once again Randolph was dominant from deep, shooting lights-out in a 70-58 win over Emory and Henry in Wednesday night men's basketball action.
The WildCats shot a program-best 58.8% from three on 10-of-17 shooting, as junior Seth Wimbish tied a program record with six made threes in the game.
Coming off of 14 made threes on Saturday, this marks the most threes in program history over a two-game span.
Joining Wimbish in the offensive surge was junior Zach Desgain, who nearly became the first player in program history with a triple double, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
The nine assists matches a career high and is one short of the program record in that category.
Randolph only trailed for 17 seconds today, responding to conceding the first basket of the game to score eight straight points, never trailing again.
The WildCats grew their lead to as much as 15 in the half before an E&H run cut the lead to just four late in the frame.
After a three-point play from Zach Desgain gave Randolph a 30-23 edge at half, Randolph used that momentum out of the break to once again earn a double-digit lead.
The Wasps pulled within four again, but Randolph earned three straight baskets as Desgain hit two layups surrounding one from first-year Chris Hann off a feed from Desgain.
The teams continued exchanging spurts, as the Wasps cut the lead to four again, but Randolph scored six straight, including four from junior Evan Horn, to go back up 10.
With that, Randolph fended off the last serious challenge from the feisty Wasps, holding on to secure a well-earned win.
Wimbish finished with 24 points on 6-of-8 from deep, as he continues to improve his stellar shooting from deep, as he now shoots 54.9%.
Junior Corey Brown joined Wimbish and Desgain in double figures with 10 points.
"We knew coming in to today that it would be a tough game, as all ODAC games are," Desgain said. "We picked it up in the second half and strung some stops and buckets together to win this game."
The win adds another to the résumé of head coach Clay Nunley, who was honored pregame for his 100th career win, which occured last week. It was also the program's 100th win.
Randolph will get a chance to keep the momentum going on Saturday at Bridgewater.
