Box Score SALEM, Va. -- In a rain-shortened first day of the ODAC tournament, Randolph fell, 11-3, to Guilford, forcing a relegation to the losers bracket and an uphill battle in the tournament.
After an RBI triple for Guilford in the top of the first off of senior Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian), Randolph stormed back for a pair in the bottom half of the frame.
Sophomore Hannah Cook (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) drove in two with a double into the left-centerfield gap to bring home first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) and classmate Jessica Nowak (Stafford, Va./North Stafford).

After a scoreless second, Guilford wasted no time in the third with a first-pitch triple from Brooks Bray, who came home on a sacrifice fly.
After the bases were walked loaded, more danger was averted on a 5-3-2-6-1 double play, as senior Carter finished off the rundown at home after junior Patti Vinson (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) successfully fielded a sacrifice bunt attempt.
The WildCats survived the fourth unscathed thanks in large part to a stellar defensive play from sophomore Erin Wehrhan (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) in center.
The team was less fortunate in the fifth, as the Quakers plated seven runs.
When Randolph only plated one in the bottom half of the frame, with Nowak driving in Wehrhan, Randolph fell victim to the mercy rule, ending the contest.
Due to rain, each team only played one game on Friday, with games moved back to Saturday and Sunday.
With the loss, Randolph is relegated to the losers bracket, where it will compete against Emory and Henry at 11 a.m., Saturday.
The winner of that game will play the winner of Bridgewater against Eastern Mennonite at 3:30 p.m.
That victor will compete again at 8:30 p.m., to close out the day.
