Softball Takes Two 'Green Day' Games From Emory & Henry

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph stayed hot to earn its fifth and sixth wins in a row today, 3-0 and 7-5.

On a day in which Randolph wore green in an effort to raise awareness for liver cancer, the WildCats wrapped up their home slate with two wins.

Senior Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) pitched seven shutout innings in the first contest to earn her 15th win of the season.

She was helped offensively in the third by an RBI double from sophomore Jessica Nowak (Stafford, Va./North Stafford).

Nowak scored on an RBI double from first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) in the sixth which doubled the lead before sophomore Hannah Cook (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) brought in an insurance run.

Sophomore Hannah Winfree (Yorktown, Va./York High School) cruised through five innings in the circle in game two before conceding five runs, but had a comfortable cushion thanks to some early offense.

After sophomore Erin Wehrhan (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) scored on a wild, Cook brought home Nowak on a sacrifice fly to give Randolph a 2-0 first inning lead.

Senior Brittney Via (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) scored in the third on a single from first-year Jackie Lamberty (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) to make the lead three.

Nowak, Glavé and Cook all added to their RBI totals in the fourth to double the edge before a Nowak brought home another in the fifth to make it 7-0.

First-year Haley Christensen (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) helped Winfree out of a jam in the fifth, setting up Carter for a save.

Carter is the ODAC's all-time career leader in that category.

With the win, Randolph pulls within one game of the program record for wins in a season.

The WildCats, currently ranked third in the ODAC, have yet to reschedule their doubleheader with Guilford and are expected to play at least two ODAC playoff games to try to catch that record.
