Box Score 2 SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- In the jumbled mess that is the ODAC softball standings, Randolph jumped out of a four-way tie in the middle of the pack with a sweep at Sweet Briar thanks, in part, to the program's fifth-ever no hitter.
The WildCats (21-12, 8-6) started the day with a no hitter by senior Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian).
Randolph earned the 9-0 six-inning win as Carter, the league's leader in strikeouts, fanned a dozen batters, a new program record for Ks in a game.
Carter pitched a no hitter last season, as well, allowing just one walk against Maine-Presque Isle in a five-inning affair.
In today's contest, just two runners reached base, as a HBP and an error allowed two Vixens on.
Carter didn't need much run support, but Randolph's power bats came out, with the WildCats hitting three home runs on the day.
In game one, first-year Jackie Lamberty (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) opened the scoring with her first career home run.
In game two, junior Haleigh Wilson (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) also hit her first career home round-tripper with a second inning blast.
Later, first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) hit her first career grand slam.
Those two game two homers helped sophomore Hannah Winfree (Yorktown, Va./York High School), who only allowed an unearned run over five innings in a 12-1 win.
Randolph moves to 8-6 in ODAC play with the win and jumps up to fourth in the league with six games left. There are currently 10 teams in the hunt, with four teams sitting at 6-6, including Randolph's opponent Saturday, Roanoke. Eight teams make the ODAC tournament.
