WildCats Stay Hot With Softball Sweep of Bridgewater

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Randolph has now won 15 of 17 games and are 4-0 in ODAC play after 3-1 and 7-5 wins today.

In game one, senior Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) went the distance in the circle, earning her ninth win of the season by allow just one unearned run.

In her last 25 innings, Carter has only allowed one earned run, striking out 26 batters.

Carter received early help, as first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) drove in a run in the top of the first inning.

After Randolph conceded an unearned run in the second, the WildCats got back on top in the fourth on a fielder's choice off the bat of senior Alexis Arnett (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial).

A groundout by junior Haleigh Wilson (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) gave Carter a cushion she would not need, as the pitcher shut the door on Bridgewater.

In game two, Randolph got up early once again, as senior Brittney Via (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) and sophomore Hannah Cook (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) each drove in runs to help starter Hannah Winfree (Yorktown, Va./York High School).

The sophomore gave up a run in the bottom of the frame, but held strong until Glavé's two-run homer in the fifth gave Randolph insurance runs.

Glavé has reached base in every game this year, getting a hit in all but one. She has reached base multiple times in nine straight games, earning RBIs in eight straight.

In the sixth, sophomore Erin Wehrhan (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) drove in a run and, after an RBI by sophomore Jessica Nowak (Stafford, Va./North Stafford), came around to score on a passed ball.

After Winfree departed, a grand slam brought Bridgewater within two, but first-year Haley Christensen (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) recovered to close out the win.

Randolph is back in action Tuesday, hosting Salem.
