Glave Extends Multi-Hit Streak as WildCats Split Softball Twin Bill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FERRUM, Va. -- After a rough opener against Ferrum, the WildCats rebounded from an 11-3 defeat to earn a split in the nightcap, 7-1.

In the contests, first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) extended her streak of games with at least two hits to seven.

In the first game, Ferrum hit three home runs, powering the offense to a six-inning victory.

After a seven-run Panther second, all three Randolph runs came in the top of the fifth inning.

Glavé hit a single to drive in the team's first run, and, after a wild pitch brought home one, junior Patti Vinson (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) hit an RBI double.

Any progress the WildCats made was immediately wiped away in the bottom of the inning, and a walk-off homer put away Randolph in the sixth via mercy rule.

In game two, Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) settled the defense, pitching a complete game to earn the win.

The senior struck out eight, allowing just one run.

Randolph was aided by six errors by Ferrum, including a three-run mistake in the first inning that put Randolph up early.

After sophomore Ashton Ewers (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) made the lead 4-0, the teams remained scoreless until Ferrum scored its run in the sixth.

In the top of the seventh, the offense gave Carter a cushion when Glavé homered and Ewers and junoir Haleigh Wilson (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) each drove in one.

Randolph is back in action Saturday with an ODAC road trip to Bridgewater.
