Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph used a career night from Mike Ehilegbu (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) and some hot shooting to earn an important ODAC win over Emory & Henry.

Emory & Henry (2-18, 0-11 ODAC) jumped out to a strong start to earn an 11-2 edge, but Ehilegbu scored the first seven Randolph (12-8, 6-5 ODAC) points as the team started to come from behind.

E&H responded and doubled its lead at the end of the first half from five to 10, taking a 36-26 advantage into the locker room.

Ehilegbu had 14 first-half points, leaving him at 999 career points at intermission.

Out of the break, the WildCats came out strong, scoring 13 of the first 15 points to take the lead for the first time in the contest at 39-38.

It was Ehilegbu's three that capped the run, putting the guard above 1,000 points for his career.

The senior captain is now one of three players in Randolph's short men's basketball history to reach that milestone, joining former teammates Derrick Woods-Morrow and Colton Hunt.

After the Wasps regained the lead, Ehilegbu scored five straight points to put Randolph up for good.

Over the first 11:27 of the second half, Randolph used a 29-9 run, aided in large part in hitting on 7-of-8 from three, receiving two triples apiece from Ehilegbu and sophomore Jason Eddie (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day School).

Sophomores Zach Desgain (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker)Seth Wimbish (Fairdale, W.V./Liberty) and Evan Horn (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) also contributed from deep in that span.

After fending off a quick 5-0 Wasp spurt, Randolph used two more threes from Wimbish and a pair of free throws from Ehilegbu to get back in control, never letting its advantage fall below eight for the remainder of the game.

"We started off the second half well and we fed off of that for the rest of the game," head coach Clay Nunley said. "We started getting more stops and getting more sound defensively and got into more things offensively with more sharpness."

Ehilegbu finished with a career-best 28 points. Only Hunt has ever scored more in a game for the WildCats.

"Shots were falling for me tonight, so hopefully I continue playing like this for the rest of the season,"  Ehilegbu said. "It's a huge accomplishment for me and for my teammates. I thank my teammates and my coaches for helping me get here."

Nunley added, "It's a credit to Mike, who has worked hard for four years. I think Mike would be the first to tell you that this is a team accomplishment, so it's a credit to his teammates as well."

Randolph is now 6-2 at home and will host Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday as part of an ODAC doubleheader in the RAD Center.
