Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph dropped two games against hot-hitting Greensboro today.
In game one, the WildCats and Pride were scoreless through three, but Greensboro struck in each of the final four innings.
After conceding a pair in the top of the fourth, Randolph got half of its deficit back when sophomore Ashton Ewers (Gladys, Va./William Campbell) drove in first-year Hunter Glavé (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) with two outs.
Greensboro added insurance runs in each remaining inning, but wouldn't need it, as Kelsey Sanfilippo struck out the final five batters of the game, earning the save for starter Dawn Harris, 7-1.
In game two, Randolph dug itself a 10-0 hole by the top of the sixth, but got four back in the bottom of the penultimate inning.
Ewers drove in a pair on a bases loaded single and was one of two to come around on a single by junior Haleigh Wilson (Stuart, Va./Patrick County) later.
After a Pride insurance run, Randolph threatened in the seventh, getting the first four batters on safely.
After Glavé doubled in first-year Jackie Lamberty (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne), she came around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Rachel Hickman (St. Albans, W.V./St. Albans).
The team could not pull any closer, however, falling 11-6 after the threat was neutralized.
Randolph is back in action Friday at home against Salem.
