Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Randolph College softball team couldn't get much going offensively in dropping both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader with Shenandoah University. SU won game one 4-3 before taking the second contest of the afternoon 9-0.

The Hornets (14-6/4-0 ODAC) jumped out in front in the bottom of the second inning, as Denise Mitchell singled in Heather Sink for a 1-0 lead. Shenandoah added a pair in the bottom of the fourth, and Ashley Crawford singled in Madison Bradley in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-0 in favor of the hosts.

Randolph would mount a comeback in the top of the seventh, as Jessica Nowak (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) scored on a hit by pitch to make the game 4-1. With two outs, junior Brittney Via (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) plated two with a single to left field, pulling the WildCats to within one. Randolph couldn't score the equalizer though, as the game ended with runners on first and second for the WildCats.

Sophomore Jess Sanabria (Burgaw, N.C./Pender) was two-for-three with a stolen base for the WildCats. Junior pitcher Logan Carter (Richmond, Va./Midlothian) allowed four runs (three earned) on 12 hits for the visiting WildCats. Crawford had three hits for SU, while Sink had two hits and two runs.

The second game was all Shenandoah, as the Hornets plated six runs in the third inning en route to a 9-0 victory. Sophomore Rachel Hickman (St. Alban's, W.Va./St. Alban's) had a double in game two for the WildCats, and Erin Wehrhan (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and Brittany Willingham (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) each had singles.

The WildCats will return to the diamond next Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. as the Eagles of Bridgewater College come to Lynchburg for an ODAC doubleheader.
