Pitching Sends Randolph Softball To Pair of Shutout Wins over Mary Baldwin Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College Softball team shutout the Fighting Squirrels of Mary Baldwin College en route to two non-conference victories on Sunday afternoon. With the victories, the WildCats improved their early season record to 4-2.

The first game of the doubleheader featured a shutout from sophomore pitcher Jessica Sanabria (Burgaw, NC/Pender) who pitched all seven innings for the WildCats. Senior lead off hitter Brittany Willingham (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) tallied three hits and two RBIs in the first game, and the sophomore third basemen Patti Vinson (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) crushed a home run over the left field fence to finish off the Fighting Squirrels.

The second match was much like the first, and a combined pitching effort from Kristen Hutchinson (Rockville, MD/Richard Montgomery) and Logan Carter (Richmond, VA/Midlothian) kept Mary Baldwin off the scoreboard. Junior catcher Alexis Arnett (Virginia Beach, VA/First Colonial) drove in two RBIs and picked off several Mary Baldwin runners as they attempted to steal second.

Randolph (4-2) will return to action this upcoming Saturday, March 2, 2013 as they travel to take on Southern Virginia University in a non-conference matchup.
