Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph moved to 5-2 with a 79-75 win by fending off the Pacers in non-conference action.
Early, the teams alternated scoring for the first seven point-earning possessions.
Sophomore Jason Eddie (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day School) scored the first five Randolph points, with a three and a pair of free throws, both times putting Randolph (5-2) ahead.
However, it wasn't until sophomore Evan Horn (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) hit from the floor on the next offensive possession that the WildCats took the lead for good at 8-7.
Horn's layup keyed a 7-0 run that separated the two teams.
That lead grew to as much as 13 in the first frame, before hitting intermission at 11.
A 9-0 spurt in the middle of the second half pulled William Peace (3-3) within six with over 10 minutes left, but the Pacers couldn't get any closer than four until there were 26 seconds remaining.
With Peace extending the game with fouling, Randolph hit 7-of-10 free throws in the last 59 seconds to finish off the victory.
Senior Mike Ehilegbu (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) hit on three of those attempts, giving him a game-high 23 points.
The guard hit on 8-of-12 from the floor, including three of his four from long range. The team shot 56.0% on field goals.
Sophomore Zach Desgain (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) and senior Dylan Shiflett (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) each had a dozen for the WildCats. Horn had 10.
Desgain contributed seven assists, as well.
The Pacers had three players in double figures, led by 15 from Tyquan Nolan. The 75 points they scored marks the most that Randolph's defense, which is the best in the nation, has allowed more than 70 points in a game this year.
With the win, Randolph moves to 3-0 at home, while the women's team has won each of its five games in the RAD Center.
"We love playing here at home," Ehilegbu said. "Our fans are great and we always get great support."
Randolph will have one more crack at extending that home winning streak before traveling to New York for winter break. The team hosts Mary Washington next Saturday.
