LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's tennis team secured its spot in the postseason Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College in action from the Randolph Tennis Courts.
In doubles play, Randolph earned No. 1 and No. 2 doubles wins, also picking up a win by default at No. 3 doubles. In singles play, the WildCats chalked up wins at No.1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to earn the match victory.
First-year Patricia Verdezoto (Cuenza, Azuay, Ecuador/Bilingue Interamericano) earned a pair of wins for the WildCats, as did fellow newcomer Kaitlyn Kolster (Powhatan, VA/Powhatan) . Senior Janie Campbell (Fredericksburg, VA/James Monroe) paired with first-year Anna Culpepper (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) to earn a 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles, while also chalking up a No. 3 singles win.
Senior Brooke Camper (Smithfield, VA/Smithfield) got a win at No. 3 doubles, and played a very competitive match at No. 5 singles before falling. The WildCats are now 6-8 and 3-6 in the conference, and could finish as high as sixth in the standings with another win.
Randolph will look to get that fourth conference victory with a battle against Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, VA at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
