Jordan Portugal Signing

Former WildCat Phillips-McLoyd Signs Professional Contact in Portugal

LYNCHBURG, Va.- Former Randolph men's basketball student-athlete Jordan Phillips-McLoyd has signed a professional basketball contract to play in Portugal. He will depart for the country at the end of the month with his contract starting on September 1.

Phillips-McLoyd will play for Sangalhos Desporto Clube more commonly known as Sagalhos DC. The team competes in the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol. The season starts in September and lasts through May depending on if the team qualifies for the playoffs.

Phillips-McLoyd heard about the opportunity through his agent. He signed with the team in late July.

"We are very proud of Jordan for earning this professional opportunity in Portugal," said Randolph Head Coach Evan Kee. "He came into his senior season with a career goal in mind and worked hard each day to reach it. We look forward to following his career!"

This past season for Randolph, Phillips-McLoyd had a career year after spending his junior year at another institution.  He made his return felt immediately as he tied the Randolph game record for points with 38 in the WildCats' 101-93 overtime win in their season opener. For that performance, he was named the ODAC Offensive Athlete of the Week. Phillips-McLoyd matched the 38 points in a 96-90 setback to Nazareth in December. Overall, he had five 30+ scoring games over the course of the season. He reached 1,000 career points back in December and 1,000 points in his Randolph career in January. He ended his WildCat career with 1,200 points to rank third all-time.

Phillips-McLoyd averaged just a tenth of a point below 20 (19.9) for the season which is the second-highest in a single season in WildCat history.  He led the ODAC in scoring average and was fourth in total points. He reached double figures in points in all but two games in 2024-25. Phillips-McLoyd was named to the ODAC Third Team at the conclusion of the season.

Phillips-McLoyd had his best field goal percentage this past season as he was 158-of-360 (43.9%) and a career-best 139-of-161 (86.3%) from the free throw line. He also had career highs in rebounds (96), assists (87), and steals (28). He finished sixth in the conference in assists.
