VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph men's volleyball team traveled east to Virginia Beach to face Regent in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats trailed 2-0 but recovered to win the next three sets and overtook the Royals 3-2 (22-25, 26-28, 25-14, 25-13, 15-5).

The WildCats improve their overall record to 11-14 on the season.

The first set was even at 4-4 before the Royals went on a 6-0 run to lead 10-4. Randolph edged its way back in as it closed to 15-13. Regent pulled ahead 21-16 but the WildCats closed the gap to tie the set up at 22-all. The Royals, however, picked up the last two points of the set to win 25-22.

Randolph answered that run with its own run of 7-0 to overtake the Royals and go ahead 19-18. Regent would edge ahead once again but the WildCats had a response each time. With the set tied at 26-26, the Royals received back-to-back kills by Aaron Campbell to win 28-26 and take a 2-0 lead.

The third set saw Randolph take an early lead and then expand it to 17-10. The advantage grew to 21-11 and it was enough of a lead to hold off the Royals as the WildCats won 25-14. The 'Cats got out to a big 6-0 run in the fourth set. Regent closed to within three points at 9-6 but the WildCats added to their lead with an 11-3 run to go up 20-9. The lead was significant again as Randolph won easily 25-13. The WildCats led 5-0 in the fifth set until the Royals closed their gap to make it 5-3.
