Webb Reaches 1,000 Assist Milestone; WildCats Fall to Generals

LEXINGTON, Va.- The Randolph volleyball team faced off against Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The Generals defeated the WildCats 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-15).

Randolph's record drops to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the ODAC. W&L improves to 14-5 and 4-3 in the conference.

Despite the loss, one WildCat did achieve a milestone. With 14 assists on the afternoon, Taylor Webb (Nassawadox, Va./Northampton) reaches 1,000 for her career and becomes the seventh player in program history to do so.

In the first set, the WildCats were on the Generals' tails as they rallied to lead 12-9. W&L came back to take the lead away but the 'Cats kept pace as they trailed by just two points at 18-16. Washington and Lee used a 7-3 run, however, to break free and take the set 25-19.

Randolph fell behind 5-1 in the second set and then 14-7. The WildCats were able to cut to within five points but the Generals stayed out ahead to claim the set 25-18. In the third set with the score at 18-14 in the home team's favor, W&L used a 7-1 run down the stretch to put the 'Cats away.

Mackenzie Ambrose (Floyd, Va./Floyd County) tallied seven kills to lead the WildCats. Sam Verhaagen (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Christian) led in digs with 16.

Randolph hosts Roanoke this coming Tuesday for a Code Black match. Start time will be at 7:00 p.m.
