Women's Tennis Takes Down Roanoke, 6-3

SALEM, Va. – The Randolph College women's tennis team took home a 6-3 victory over host and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Roanoke College, 6-3, on Thursday afternoon.

The tandem of Keyu Jin (Kunming, China/No. 8 Middle School) and Aubrey Hawn (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) earned the only doubles win for the WildCats, defeating their opponents, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot.

Randolph went on to claim five out of six singles matches to clinch the win. Jin earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 while Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool) won at No. 2, 6-4, 6-4. Hawn won at the No. 3 spot, 6-3, 6-3 while Lauren Appel (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4. Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) fought a hard battle at No. 6 but ultimately won, 2-6, 6-1, 10-7 to seal the win for Randolph. 

The WildCats extend their winning streak to five as they move to 7-3, 4-2 ODAC. Randolph returns to action on Saturday, April 7 when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan University at the Crosswhite Athletic Club at 1 p.m.
