WIldCats Rebound with Big Win over William Peace
RALEIGH, NC – The Randolph College women's tennis team played for the third time in three days, and came back from a Saturday setback with a big 6-0 win on Sunday over William Peace University. The last three singles matches were not finished due to rain.
All three doubles matches had the same score, all convincing 8-1 wins. Dina Velazco and Jenna Sweet were the victors at number one. Sarah Parker and Emmalyn Snead took down their counterparts in the second spot, Samantha Dickerson and Alex Wieczorek followed suit in three doubles for their second win of the spring.
Singles had even better results, with three members not giving up a game. Sweet and Parker swept at two and three respectively, 6-0, 6-0. Dickerson was winning 6-0, 4-0 at five, but it was halted unfortunately.
The other three players also had strong days. Velazco won at number one 6-1, 6-0. Snead won her first set 6-1, and was up big, 4-0, but it was also stopped. Finally Shelby Lutz was up in her first set at number six, but as with the other two, it ended before completion.
The WildCats (4-1 overall) will be in action on Friday. The 'Cats play Southern Virginia University at home at 2 p.m.
