WildCats Men's Tennis Starts Spring with Win over Ferrum
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College men's tennis team began its 2016 season on Friday, defeating Ferrum College 6-3. The WildCats took two doubles matches, and four out of the six in singles.
Doubles got things under way and as was the case with last year, Dario Schiano-Moriello was at number one, this time joined by JT von Seggern. The two took down their opponents with an 8-3 win. The WildCats also got a win at number three doubles. The pair of Tuan Tran and Bradley Strober continued off of their fall success, easing to an 8-2 victory.
Ahn Hoang and Kevin Ramirez took #2 doubles, 8-3 for Ferrum.
Singles started after that, and the top-four for the 'Cats all impressed. Strober gave up only one game in each set against Ramirez, winning 6-1, 6-1. At number two, von Seggern was very similar. He won 6-3, 6-3, doubling up his opponent in total games.
Trevor Johnson was at number three and he was pushed by Hoang. After dropping the first set, Johnson responded to take the second. He closed out the match winning the tie-breaker 11-9.
The last win came at number four, as Doug Corbett defeated Taylor Napier 6-1, 6-4.
Danny Keo and Caleb Belamy won at five and six respectively for the Panthers (0-1 overall).
