Randolph Women's Tennis Keeps up Winning Ways over LC
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College women's tennis team won its second match of the fall, by defeating Lynchburg College 5-4 on Saturday. It was the same score the 'Cats won by on Friday.
Randolph took only one win in doubles, and it came at the number one spot. Dina Velazco and Jenna Sweet worked well to take their match 8-3.
The WildCats rebounded in the singles to take four of the six matches, with two being played with pro sets because of darkness. Velazco led the charge, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 in the number one spot. Sweet, playing as the three, followed Velazco in going 2-0 on the day by winning 6-0, 6-1. Sarah Parker (number two) and Samantha Dickerson (number five) were the two 'Cats who played and won in pro sets. Parker was victorious 8-0, with Dickerson winning 8-3.
Emmie Snead dropped a heartbreaker, losing 10-4 in the final set tiebreaker after taking the second without dropping a game.
The WildCats will be back in action next weekend, heading to the ITA Regional at Mary Washington University. The three-day non-team tournament will begin on Saturday.
