WildCats' Women's Tennis Defeats Knights 5-4

BUENA VISTA, VA – Despite defaulting in two matches on Friday, the Randolph College women's tennis team defeated Southern Virginia University 5-4 in the first match of the fall.

The 'Cats took first and second doubles by scores of 8-5 and 8-6.  Sarah Parker and Jenna Sweet were the victors at number one, with Emmie Snead and Samantha Dickerson the team at two who won.

In singles, the WildCats took three out of the five matches that were played.  Parker, playing at number one, took down her counterpart 6-2, 6-0.  Sweet was almost as good at number two, winning 6-0, 6-3.  Dickerson had the final singles victory, playing at number four.  She swept the first set, 6-0, before winning the second one in a close affair, 7-5.

The WildCats (1-0 overall) will be back in action on Saturday.  Randolph hosts Lynchburg College at 3 p.m.
