Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. -- In a physical battle across town, Randolph fell to No. 5 Lynchburg in men's lacrosse action.
The Hornets finished with a 20-6 victory Wednesday night.
After Lynchburg got out to an early strong start, sophomore Ryan Campbell got the WildCats on the scoreboard first with an unassisted tally.
The two teams alternated the four goals in the third quarter, with Campbell doubling his goal total to open the half.
Randolph's other goal in the period was a piece of incredible skill from three sophomores off of a faceoff.
After Alex Leyva won the draw himself, a loose ball on the sideline right in front of the bench led to Spencer Matthews and Leyva combining to save the ball right at midfield.
Layva fed Shane Soghomonian about 35 yards away, as the attackman dodged through a host of Hornet defenders to create space and put home a stunning goal.
In the fourth, sophomore Jacob Stachowiak scored his first career goal after powering through a stick-check right on the crease, which deflected the ball over the keeper.
The WildCats scored two a span of 14 seconds in the final minute to close the game strongly.
Junior Corey Nehlig earned a goal from the wing with 32 seconds left.
Leyva won a faceoff and got the ball downfield, where junior Brian Crosby picked up a loose ball on the crease and put it home with :18 to go.
Junior Cam Davis had 10 saves against a strong LC attack.
Junior Baden James caused four turnovers, while Matthews had three.
Austin Stewart led Lynchburg with six points.
Randolph is back in action on Saturday in the second half of a doubleheader at WildCat Stadium.
