Women's Tennis Wins Sixth Match in Last Seven Tries

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Randolph earned a win in the first half of a back-to-back stretch Monday, topping Sweet Briar, 8-1.

Randolph swept doubles play this afternoon on a picturesque day at home.

Junior Dina Velazco and sophomore Jenna Sweet were successful, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles to open the day.

Junior Sarah Parker and sophomore Heather Parra made quick work at No. 2, winning 8-1.

Seniors Danielle Lewis and Tiandre Forde closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory.

Only Velazco fell in singles competition, as she competed with All-ODAC top singles player Caitlin Delmas.

None of the other WildCats dropped a set, as Parker won, two-and-two, at second singles to lead the charge.

Sweet moved to 9-0 on the year in singles play without dropping a set, winning, 6-2, 6-0.

Parra was pushed to a tiebreaker in the second set, but left with a 6-0, 7-6 (5) win.

Lewis took a 6-0, 6-1 victory and Forde won, 6-2, 6,1, to wrap up the day.

The win puts Randolph back in the win column after its first setback in six matches.

Randolph had won a program-record five straight in March.

Randolph visits Hollins on Tuesday for the second half of the back-to-back.
